Greetings guys,

I have always found Order From Chaos to be a very complex band lyrically, which leads me to believe the band was just as much philosophically inspired as it was musically inspired. What exactly does "Order From Chaos" mean to you conceptually and personally?

What does Pete say at the end of "Power Elite" and what is it's meaning?

What is the meaning to the cover art of "Dawn Bringer"?

Also, are there any distributions still carrying Dawn Bringer and/or An Ending in Fire that you know of? I would like to have those albums in my collection but they're very hard to track down.

Sorry for all the questions, but I am a huge Order From Chaos fan and I've always wondered about these things!

Thanks.

- Nate

Nate, thanks for the questions and compliments...its always great to hear from OFC maniacs.

OFC lyrics were often inspired by philosophy, yes...bits of Nietzsche, Machiavelli, Voltaire and a host of others.

The fundamental idea behind 'Order From Chaos' is as a declaration of independence for the individual. It can be summed up by a phrase from Iconoclasm Conquest, "Bite the hand that feeds you, curse it, shower it with spit, your freedom’s finally truly yours, your mind – your own, order from the chaos of enslavement, triumph of the will."

The Conqueror of Fear series is a final statement of the greater OFC idea; presented forcefully, coherently, and in a way that is more aesthetically appealing. It is directed toward those with with an honest self-awareness, desire and self-discipline to devolve and strip away the parts of themselves that are negative and destructive, to "abandon the I that was," and be willing to travel the more difficult road in constant search of strength and wisdom - rather than be imprisoned among the 'suffocating swineherd,' the 'unintelligible products of the societal stillbirth machine.' The cynics, the jealous and the ignorant: "Fel Draconum vinum eorum. Et veneum Aspidum insanibile (Their wine is the poison of Dragons, and the cruel venom of Asps)."

The end of Power Elite is a looping echo of the word "Power." Apart from dramatically emphasizing part of the title, it also means we like Slaughter Lord a lot.

Dawn Bringer cover art is a reconfiguration of the demo-era "Industrial da Vinci Man" design. By 1993 it was evolving into what we would finally refer to as the "Conqueror of Fear" design.

I don't know of any distros carrying DB or AIEF currently, although both turn up on eBay frequenly and for not too much dosh. We are currently discussing the idea of a rerelease of DB with the reformed Shiva Records, and are already working on deluxe vinyl editions of AEIF and Stillbirth Machine with NWN.

Hope all this helps.
Chuck

Thanks for your response, Chuck! I would actually love to see NWN rerelease some OFC material, because all of their releases are quality. Yosuke does some of the best reissues with the fans of the band in mind and nothing else. I think NWN is one of the few remaining "real" metal labels who stand behind their ideals and so it would be appropriate for them to rerelease Order From Chaos material!

Can you please expand on the meaning of the quote you posted;
"Fel Draconum vinum eorum. Et veneum Aspidum insanibile (Their wine is the poison of Dragons, and the cruel venom of Asps)."

What exactly are you conveying with this message?

Thanks again Chuck, I am glad to see you still care about the fans who remember this band! We are still around. I am from Los Angeles and in 2006 I saw Destroyer 666 play in a very small bar. This show was full of total maniacs, I saw atleast five or six people wearing Order From Chaos shirts there, and one who even had the logo painted on his leather jacket. You are not forgotten!

There certainly are more OFC fans around now than there were when the band existed. I think Ares Kingdom and Angel Corpse continually introduce new people to OFC, and time seems to be justifying our efforts all those years ago. Its all very gratifying.

The quote comes from part III of Conqueror of Fear: The Sign Draconis, and follows on the heels of Tenebrae (darkness). Taken in context with what came before and after, we're talking about the deaf, dumb and blind swineherd; cynical, jealous and ignorant - poisons of dragons, venom of asps.

Thanks for the thoughtful questions!

Killer! Thanks Chuck, I do think you accomplished what you set out to do with OFC. I have hundreds of albums in my collection and I think OFC is among the most unique and honest music I've come across. I will continue trying to track down the two full length albums I'm missing! Luckily I just discovered this site today and was able to order some merch from you. I plan on ordering some ARES KINGDOM material come next paycheck from this website.

By the way, SLAUGHTER LORD was completely insane!

Thanks very much. OFC was a great and unique time for us all. We believed in what we were doing 100% and weren't interested in contriving some sort of sham career out of it - something that surely would have watered down the entire equation and made us easier to forget.

I'm sure you'll be able to track down the remaining gaps in your OFC collection shortly, and I'm interested in hearing your thoughts on Ares Kingdom whenever you're able to delve into our work. Since you're like us and think about your preferred bands on a deeper level than most people can conceive, I'm sure you'll like Ares Kingdom just the same.

Yes, its all about Slaughter Lord. Slaughter Lord and Mefisto!

Cheers.

I'll let you know my opinion after I order the material and let it sink in. I was actually reccomended Ares Kingdom by two friends who's taste in music is very creditable; Tom from Metal Nightmare Zine (I think he did an interview with you guys) and Roberto from the Mexican band INFINITUM OBSCURE. I told them both I was already a fan of Order From Chaos, but there's just too many albums out there and not enough cash to support this addiction I have to metal haha. Luckily I found this site because I would prefer to order the material directly from the band. So, you'll hear from me again soon. Thanks again! Cheers!

Yeah, both Tom and Roberto know their metal, no doubt. Great guys.

I know its hard to afford all the metal you want these days, we'll be here when you're ready.

I have received all the merchandise I ordered from the website, and YES indeed, Return to Dust has completely kicked my ass. The guitar work is excellent here Chuck, the song "Fear Itself" has some of the best riffs I've heard recently. The solos are perfectly executed and remind me of the great old days of Metal!
I am also pleased that AK is not just an Order From Chaos continuation band. This band is a completely seperate entity, very different but still completely genuine and unique. Hails and thanks for the DVD and sticker (which has found it's home on top of my record player).
